raspberry

1. edible fruit
2. sound made with the tongue and lips, expressing derision or contempt. You know that sound when you pull a tongue, and blow, making a farty noise?
Well the fun part about this word is that it comes from raspberry tart, which is rhyming slang for fart.
Sorry for the juvenile fart interest, but it's Friday and it's been a long week and I found this interesting.
Oh, you want an example sentence...

When Roderick offered the fructose-intolerant Regina a punnet of raspberries, she blew a raspberry at him.

Sandra Bullock's portrayal of an erratic crossword puzzle writer in "All About Steve" earned her a resounding raspberry - and we're not talking about the Award.
