posology

Doctor Pöndschüm favours a one-size-fits-all approach to posology. Dosages are pretty much determined by the size of manufacturer packaging and whatever beakers, pipets, spoons, pumps, syringes or electrical sockets happen to be within reach. Binary medicine, one might call it. A treatment has been administered, or it hasn't. A patient has survived, or not. Nuances beyond these facts are details, and hence somebody else's problem.

posology

noun.
the study of drug dosages

Upon waking from a long, deep sleep, with itchy red eyes, a streaming nose, and a nest of hives on his cheek, Ralph realised his posology just wasn't right yet. He still needed to reduce the drowsiness-inducing aspect of the antihistamine, while increasing the allergy-reducing aspect.

(Apologies to other subscribers of Wordsmith's Word of the Day if this looks familiar. I liked it!)
