deipnosophist

It is with some trepidation that she enters the Cock & Cat.  The gloom inside almost exactly matches that of the tired dusk outside.  If she hurries, she can be out again before the place comes alive.  She steels herself and makes her way towards a bench next to the hearth.  A large form in a cloak, huddled over a tankard, breaks wind as she passes.  Ah.  The local deipnosophist.

Deipnosophist

[pronounced: dahyp-nos-uh-fist]

- noun
a person who is an adept conversationalist at table.

The guests didn't notice him slip the poison into the chancellor's soup as they ate up his words. He was a skilled deipnosophist after all.

oneiric

The movie Mulholland Drive features a distinctly oneiric ambiance.

Oneiric

(pronounced: oh-nai-ric)
of or relating to dreams and dreaming.

Lorna has an oneiric blog. People sometimes try to use it for oneiromancy (interpretation of dreams to predict the future) but they usually get stuck around the finless shark.

(Sorry, shameless punting of own blog here...)

Cromulent

"Is it not cromulent to expect to be paid on time, after delivering on time?" she asked rhetorically, knowing that it is in fact, not cromulent to expect such a thing.

cromulent

1. adjective: fine, acceptable or normal
2. adjective: excellent, realistic, legitimate or authentic

Why shouldn't I charge for my sleep time if I wake up with a solution to a work problem?  It's a perfectly cromulent professional activity.
